A great overview of how to successfully sell your products or service using Facebook ads

I really enjoyed this book. Nicholas does a great job of explaining the basics of online marketing, especially for Facebook. One of the biggest takeaways I got from this book is that business owners and service providers can't think of Facebook the same way we think of Amazon and eBay. When people head to Amazon or eBay they have their credit cards out and are planning to buy something. They are already primed for a sale and are actually asking to be sold the exact thing they want. When people go to Facebook, they are there to socialize, see what friends and family in distant places are up to and maybe even check in on what their enemies and ex-es are doing as well. They don't have their credit card in their hands and they are not asking to be sold to. This is why Nicholas tells us the best way to use Facebook ads is to give and engage, not sell immediately or directly.
I have to admit that I was hoping to get a bit more technical, hands-on how-to in terms of making successful ads and retargeting (something I have yet to try myself). But I also realize that Facebook itself changes the technical details on a pretty regular basis, so any tech advice would probably date the book very quickly. Instead what you can expect here is a really good overview of the why, the what and the general how rather than the exact buttons to push and audiences to target or retarget. So even though I felt like I did "know" some of this stuff from reading other books and posts on the subject, the truth is that I have not been following this advice enough and I do feel like I can immediately take some of this advice to improve my interactions and conversions on Facebook.

Good, but not as robust as promised.

There's some solid marketing theory in this book, but if you're looking for a bunch of hands-on, "how-to" advice, there isn't much here (although what is here is pretty decent). In the end I felt like the book gave me about half as much as thought it would.

Good but seen it before

I enjoyed this book. It did a great job of walking me through why marketing matters and how Facebook can be used to direct the right messaging to the right people.
But, I feel like I've read a lot of this before in other books and blogs. I was hoping for more tackle elements to be introduced but I'll settle for a few copywriting formulas I haven't seen before.
The author has a pleasant writing style and it was a fast read. If you're new to online marketing or thinking about getting into it, then this a great book to help you establish the right perspective.
