Suspense and chemistry galore

Charlotte has been a widow for just over a year, but still dreams about the anonymous partner who she gave her virginity to on the eve of Kirk's proposal, as it was the most erotic night of her life. Suddenly the guy that just moved in next door has her interest piqued. He bears a striking resemblance to the nameless man she still fantasizes about. Soon, she realizes that he's the man she was with, and his name is Joe. What she doesn't know is that he's a detective forced to live in the small Ohio town in the witness protection program due to upcoming testimony against a drug lord. And he knows exactly who this suburban mom is and the passion she's capable of. Despite wanting to get the heck out of there, Joe starts spying on Charlotte, and becomes intrigued with her once again. Soon they are getting horizontal and he is becoming an integral part of her life. But he fears that the drug lord, Guzman may try to get at him by hurting Charlotte or her children.

There is some great nail biting moments and all the requisite steamy encounters you come to expect from a Donovan book. This one also has lot of heart with Charlotte's devotion to her family.

Decent romance with a bit of adventure thrown in

This was my first Susan Donovan book, and I think I'll try some more. She writes hot love scenes and good characters, and the story never dragged. This particular book didn't make me say "Wow!" but based on the way Donovan develops her characters and the way she writes both romance and adventure, I think I'd probably like some of her other books.
I liked that the main characters are in their mid to late 30's and still hot. And even though Charlotte is a soccer mom, it doesn't mean she can't be a very sexual being. Joe is a little too good to be true, but all leading men in romance novels are. The secondary story about Joe being in hiding from killers helped what could have been a fairly dull romance.
I recommend this book to women who like more than just romance, they like some adventure thrown in.

"Affection" Sizzles!

'Public Displays of Affection' was actually my first Susan Donovan novel, but soon after reading the last page, I rushed to add 2 older titles to my Amazon cart!

I thought this book was wonderful from beginning to end. The characters were easy to like and our hero, Joe Bellacera is almost impossible not to fall in love with. Charlotte, a widowed mom of 2 can't forget the fantasy man she spent one unforgettable afternoon with, and when he turns out to be - literally- the guy next door, the memories he sparks only prove how much she missed during her happy; yet tame sex life with her rather dull late hubby. The erotic poetry she secretly writes is her only link to the man shes forced to relegate to her fantasies until he drops into her life out of the blue, bigger badder and better looking than ever. The only damper is the $1 million price on his head, leveled by a drug lord DEA agent Joe is set to testify against - provided he lives!

Joe and Charlotte have sizzling chemistry, and their romantic moments, both past and present, pepper the book at good intervals. The sex is certainly hot and steamy and Joe and Charlotte make a perfect romantic duo. Ms. Donovan has done a hell of a job. This is definately one that will be re-read!

This is one of those times a book doesn't really need a review

Christ I mean seriously who the hell am I to critique Shakespeare? If Amazon had a way to "skip reviews" this would probably be one of those I'd hit. Anything I could say about the work would feel woefully contrived and without merit.

The "brass tacks" on this from a lay-mans perspective is it's fantastic but seriously it's Shakespeare and while I haven't read the breadth of his work I haven't regretted reading one yet. The translation/interpretation was fine for me (not an English major ergo haven't read another translation to compare it to).

Honestly it's a safe bet and solid read if you have time

Clean Version - Not Annotated

This is just a publication of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, which is a very short play (maybe 75 pages). I needed it for my son's high school English class. This version is not annotated, although at the bottom of each page there are footnotes which define words which are now obscure or out of date. Excellent price for a school book. The play itself is easy to read and rather humorous, but there are plenty of other reviewers who delve more deeply into the plot. I was happy to be able to get this quickly from Amazon, since my darling son told me the night before he needed the book that it was required, and he was certain I'd have a copy laying about (I did, but in a huge Shakespeare anthology volume).

Great play, great electronic version

Othello was one of the first plays I was exposed to when I was younger. It has murder, suicide, intrigue and things that would get a teenager into Shakespeare.

I've had mixed success with some of the free Kindle versions of Shakespeare. Some have been good, some have been awful. This is an exceptional version. It's formatted nicely and is easy to read. The only "lack" is that it is without line numbers, so if you were to use this for academic reasons, you might have an issue or two.

Thus far, Othello's my favorite free Shakespeare play. I missed how much of a jerk Iago was, and all the deception that lead to Othello killing Desdemona.

Great projects to do with your kid (or for kids to do themselves)

I wish I had found this book a few years ago when my son was younger. It would have greatly helped established my “Dad Credentials” when he came to me with his imaginative and fun project ideas. I am somewhat handy and can make some basic things, but having Planes, Gliders and Paper Rockets around as a ready reference guide sure would have helped. That said, if you have kids who want to start “making”, this is a great, fun place to start.

Planes, Gliders and Paper Rockets provides several projects from paper helicopters (with optional, but cool, LED lights), Rubber band airplanes, kites, foam air rockets and more. According to the book’s preface, this is the first in a series of books from Maker Media and sets a good example for the other books in the series. I’ll certainly be on the lookout for more like this.

Each project provides some basic discussion starters about the scientific concepts involved in each project and then moves into a careful and well illustrated step-by-step guide for building and then flying the project. All the photos are clear and well-captioned. Templates are included when useful and a complete supplies list are provided for each project. Some projects can also be purchased from Make as complete kits, ready to be assembled.

Planes, Gliders and Paper Rockets would be a great book for kids and adults to work through together, over the course of several weeks or months -- growing in skills with each project. Older kids could put together many of these projects on their own, if they were looking for a place to start their own maker adventures.

Of course, a book like this is could also be used in any educational environment to discuss a wide variety of engineering, aeronautical and scientific concepts. Hands-on activities are a great way of clarifying and solidifying new concepts by applying theories as soon as possible after they are learned.

If you’re looking to get away from your computer for a while and enjoy some time making things with your hands instead of just your mind, Planes, Gliders and Paper Rockets is a great place to start.

Good hands-on activities for kids and parents/grandparents

This book brings back a lot of fond memories. I spent many happy childhood hours making paper airplanes, paper helicopters and paper waterbombs (NOT covered in the book!). I've since used some of these skills and designs with children and grandchildren. So I know that they work and can provide some much-needed fun. The projects in this book mostly are a bit more sophisticated than I was able to create on my own as a kid in elementary school. So I recommend that you don't just hand this book to a kid and say "Go have fun!" Make it a parent-child or grandparent-grandchild activity to duplicate some of the projects in this book and, if necessary, make modifications to suit what materials you have on hand.
